Asmita said nothing to Cardinale's preach. He had admitted that he was being careless and underrated the vampire hunters—humans who underwent numerous training to exterminate his species. Ah, no. Perhaps he was actually overestimating his ability. He had introspected, so there was no need to heed further scoldings from Cardinale, regardless of how rude he was for doing that to that temporary guardian of his.
.
Being a vampire that belonged to no family, Asmita had went through his whole life shifting between countless small vampire clans since he was separated from his first one. The process would averagely work like this: an adult vampire took him into the group they were part of, cared for him as if he had been part of theirs since its founding, then when the time comes for the group to move away in order to avoid human's suspicions of their ageless appearance, he will separate himself from them and looked for a new group in a new place. An elaborate and tiring process, but he thought it would help in aiding him in finding the people from his original clan.
The last group who took him in referred him to this pair of vampire when he bid his goodbye to the clan leader. They were a unique pair of vampire, Cardinale and Shijima, being one of the few vampires who came to love each other instead of finding their respective mates or taking down the path of creating human harem. The clan leader thought that Asmita will be more comfortable than living within groups like he had always been. Also, Shijima opened an Indian restaurant since he and Cardinale arrived in the States, and knowing that Asmita is quite skilled at cooking, the blond might be able to help the pair.
True enough, Asmita found himself enjoy living with the two, and they seemed to like his presence. With each passing days since the day of his arrival at their doorsteps, the trio grew closer to each other, like a true family.
Though Asmita still longed to be reunited with his original family—the small clan consisting of four adult vampires and, counting him in, four fledglings. He longed to see them, to meet his savior...
.
Cardinale's rebuke came into a stop when Shijima raised his hand, asking for his Italian lover to stop and give him a chance to speak as well. For a moment the room turned silent and somewhat tense. Then the redheaded man spoke.
"And these humans that helped and allowed you to stay at their place? How did you come into contact with them?"
Asmita suddenly tensed, and it didn't miss Shijima's observations. The first began to explain how Aspros and Defteros found and helped him. As per requested by Cardinale, he didn't leave any details out, which made him to spout the—to the couple—surprising statement.
"—Now I am not quite sure, as I'm not much knowledgeable in the fields of emotional feelings, but I... feel something strange within me when I look at Defteros, when he walked me to the bus stop. I think that..." he hesitated for a moment before he finished his sentence, "... Defteros is my Mate."
