It was past midnight when Asmita decided to have a night stroll. Most stores had closed down for the day, obviously, but not the convenience stores. He originally intended to buy a magazine or some other things from there and went to the closest park to enjoy them, but he forgot all about it when he saw Aspros coming out from an convenience store, carrying a plastic bag of canned drinks and light snacks.

The man was still clad in the uniform, meant that he hadn't return to his home yet. This was confirmed when they began to chat, and Aspros informed him that he just finished dealing on a case just a few blocks away from there.

"I won't be coming home anytime soon, I think. There are still a lot of things to do," he chuckled as he shifted his posture. The items he bought made rustling sounds when he did so. "I feel bad for my little brothers, but so far they'd manage taking care of our house while me and Defteros are away for our works."

Asmita tilted his head slightly, seemed curious. "You have more little brothers?"

"Yeah. Another pair of twins like me and Deft. They're in their senior years right now."

Aspros intended to go on for a long rant about how precious they are, but before he could, he caught the look on Asmita's face, though it lasted only for some split-seconds. It was a mix of concern and... sadness? He would like to ask, for that kind of expression to appear at the mention of him having little brothers made little sense to him, but in the end decided not to. They were, after all, just became acquainted with each other this morning.

"Why are you out so late at night, by the way?" The blue haired man changed the topic to another subject that also picked his curiosity. "You're not up to some mischiefs, are you? Like the other night..."

Asmita shook his head lightly. "That one was an accident. I'm always up so late and have night strolls like this because of my guardians—the relatives who took me in."

"Your relatives?"

"Yes, they always make love for an hour or two before they rest so I'm escaping by going for night strolls."

Both of them went silent for a few good minutes. Asmita because he didn't really have anything to say to continue their conversation, while Aspros couldn't decide whether he should be embarrassed to hear the blond spoke his earlier statement so blatantly or pity the shorter man for having to deal with his—in his thought—passionate relatives.

In the end, the one to break the silence was Aspros. He cleared his throat before speaking, "Well, I would advise you to stop this routine. Streets at night are dangerous—even for a man like yourself. Can't you talk them to..." he stopped to think of a proper word, "... be quieter when they're at it?"

Asmita smiled thinly. Bitterly. If only the policeman know about his real identity and learned of his sensitive hearing.

"I can try, though I hope it won't pass as a rude request to them."

"Why would they think that you are rude for asking that?" Aspros lifted an eyebrow. "In the first place, when they decided to let you live with them, they should've already put it into consideration—that you will be disturbed if they don't tone down their nightly routines. They're pretty immature despite being adults if they need to be reminded of it and actually judge you as a rude person."

The ringtone of Aspros's cellphone disrupted their chat. Apparently it was from one of his subordinates. Asmita remained where he is while Aspros conversed with the man at the other end of the phone, deciding to make another observation of the tall man, this time trying to compare him with his younger twin.

He thought it's amazing how the twins looked so much like each other yet contrasted one another. He had noted things that differentiate them from each other this morning, but now he found another trait that Defteros had but Aspros hadn't: the fact that only the younger of the two made his heart stirred. Asmita had heard from vampires older than him facts about mates—that they are the 'other half' of a vampire, and will, upon death, always reincarnate to have the same fate; that vampires are absolutely able to recognize the scent of their mates; that it's not possible for vampires to mistake their mates for the mates' relatives.

Now he had confirmed those stories on his own, that they are not lies created by romantic vampires.
